Utilizing Your Benefits
In-Network Coverage I am an in-network provider with Cigna. If you choose to use your Cigna benefits, your actual out-of-pocket cost will depend on your specific plan’s copay, coinsurance, or deductible requirements. We will verify your benefits prior to your initial intake session.
Out-of-Network Reimbursement (Superbills) If you carry a different insurance provider and have out-of-network benefits, you may still be able to save significantly on your care. I provide detailed monthly documentation called a Superbill that you can easily submit through platforms like Thrizer or Mentaya to automate your out-of-network reimbursement process.

FAQs

Yes, but on a limited basis. I dedicate a specific number of slots in my practice to reduced-fee sessions for individuals facing financial hardship or transitions. Please note that my sliding scale rate does not drop below $120 per session. If my reduced-fee slots are currently full, I am happy to provide trusted referrals to clinicians or community resources who may have immediate availability.

To protect your absolute privacy, clinical freedom, and quality of care, I operate largely outside of the managed care/insurance system. While using insurance can lower upfront costs, the trade-offs often compromise the therapy itself:
Compromised Confidentiality: Insurance companies require a formal mental health diagnosis from the DSM to justify treatment, which becomes part of your permanent medical record. They also retain the right to audit and demand access to your confidential session notes at any time.
Dictated Care: Insurance representatives—not you or your therapist—often dictate how many sessions you are allowed, how long those sessions can be, and what therapeutic modalities can or cannot be used.
Financial Vulnerability (Clawbacks): The insurance industry frequently utilizes retrospective audits. They can arbitrarily determine months or years down the line that a service was 'not medically necessary' and demand that the provider pay them back, which legally leaves the client responsible for the sudden repayment of services already rendered.
By remaining private-pay or utilizing out-of-network benefits, our work remains entirely confidential, tailored strictly to your individual needs, and free from corporate oversight.
Cancellation Policy
Your session time is explicitly reserved for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, a minimum of 24 hours' notice is required.
Appointments canceled, rescheduled, or missed with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a $120 late cancellation/no-show fee. This fee cannot be billed to insurance and will be automatically charged to your card on file.
Good Faith Estimate
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers are required to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, including psychotherapy sessions. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
