High-functioning anxiety? Nah. Just high-functioning.

Therapy for high-achieving people that are navigating burnout, perfectionism, and anxiety in orlando and across Florida.

Has life started feeling like a group project, and you’re the only person actually doing any of the work?

I know that all of you “Former Gifted Kids” just nodded your heads

You’ve probably been told by people that they really admire how you seem to just "have it all together” but whenever you hear that, you feel like your extreme effort and stress are going completely unseen. Whether you are navigating the heavy weight of perfectionism, the exhaustion of corporate burnout, or the specific anxieties that come with being an over-achiever, I provide a space where you can finally catch a break.

I am here to help over-achievers who are struggling to chill the f**k out:

  • Find a greater sense of fulfillment and purpose.

  • Quiet the perfectionism and anxiety that fuel burnout.

  • Navigate the invisible labor in your relationships and career.

I’m here to help you learn to apply your finely honed skill of problem solving (aka overthinking) towards yourself.

Taylor Nelms, a licensed mental health therapist in Orlando, Florida, smiling for a professional portrait.

Hello, I’m Taylor.

I’m here to help high-achieving perfectionists trade burnout for balance.

While I take your healing and the clinical science behind it deeply seriously, I don't believe therapy has to be cold, sterile, or boring to be effective. In my practice, evidence-based frameworks are always tailored to fit your actual life rather than a purely textbook application. I bring my full, authentic self into our sessions, which means you can expect a space grounded in real talk, warmth, and a healthy dose of humor and intentional silliness to cut through the heavy stuff. When I'm not in the therapist chair, I'm usually out in nature, spending time with my loved ones, working out, or hanging out with my two dogs Gimli and Breeze (yes, from Lord of the Rings and Mistborn). If you couldn’t tell, I am also a massive nerd so if you want to use a Legend of Zelda analogy to explain your current existential dread, you are in the right place. I don't expect you to mask or perform in our sessions, because I won't do it either.

As a Florida-licensed therapist, I blend evidence-based strategies, deep, nervous-system-focused work, your own insight, and a healthy dose of humor to help you feel less like you’re drowning. My go-to therapeutic toolbox:

  • ACT & Mindfulness for managing perfectionism and stress.

  • Trauma-Focused Hypnotherapy for deeper self-understanding.

  • Feminist Therapy to acknowledge systemic and societal contributors to pain.

  • Existential Therapy because what the hell is even happening?

  • Financial Therapy to navigate the intersection of money, worth, and career.

Ready to start? I offer in person and virtual therapy sessions for residents throughout the state of Florida. You deserve to move past the burnout and into a version of success that actually feels sustainable and satisfying.

Specializing in helping over-achievers who are seeking growth, self-discovery, and lasting relief from anxiety and burnout.

Your path to balance

A collaborative, evidence-based approach to reclaiming your peace.

Starting therapy can feel like adding one more thing to an already overflowing list of projects. I’ve designed my process to be streamlined, transparent, and focused on your specific goals. Here is what you can expect when we work together:

1. The Consultation (The Vibe Check)

We start with a free 15-minute virtual consultation. This is a chance for us to see if we click. We’ll discuss what’s bringing you in, your goals for burnout recovery or perfectionism work, and I’ll answer any questions you have about my approach.

  • Goal: To ensure you feel safe, heard, and confident in our partnership. Therapy works best if the therapeutic relationship is solid, so if you think I talk about Legend of Zelda too often it’s probably best we find you a better referral!

2. The Deep Dive (Intake & Assessment)

Our first few sessions are about mapping the territory. We’ll look at what’s going on in your life, particularly where invisible labor is draining, where anxiety has you awake at all hours overthinking potential outcomes, and assess what work you have already done so you aren’t having to constantly say “I’ve already thought of that.”

3. The Active Work (Ongoing Sessions)

This is where the transformation happens. We move beyond venting into active improvement. Depending on your needs, our sessions might include:

  • Cognitive Restructuring: Challenging the "inner critic" and the scripts that tell you that you aren't doing enough.

  • Somatic Awareness: Learning to recognize when your body is entering a "fight or flight" response before the anxiety takes over.

  • Values-Based Action: Aligning your life with what actually matters to you, rather than what simply feels urgent.

  • Trauma-Focused Hypnotherapy: For those ready to address deeper, rooted patterns that traditional talk therapy hasn't quite reached. (Don’t worry, this ain’t a cruise ship, I’ll never make you quack like a duck)

4. Integration & Maintenance

The goal of therapy isn't for you to be in therapy forever. Quality therapy should give you the agency to manage your life with more ease, not to rely on therapy for relief. We periodically check in on your goals to ensure we are moving the needle. You'll leave with a toolbox of strategies you can use in your career, your relationships with others, and your relationship with yourself.

It’s possible to find harmony and balance without a lobotomy.

You don’t need to change who you are to change how you feel. You need better tools.
